Sponsored Walk – Sun May 6th

The 2012 Roland Bateman, Bob ‘Taxi’ Jenkins and Mick Rose Memorial Walk starts on Sunday May 6th at 9.30am at The Farmers Arms. It’s a great morning out for all the family and a healthy way to raise some money for the Solva & St David’s District Nurses.
Last year over 30 people all walked 6 miles to The Royal George in Solva and this year we will all be heading West to Porthllisky, round the coastal path and back to The Farmers. The photos from last year are here.
Download your sponsorship form here. The route is being finalised and we’ll let you know the details as soon as possible.
All the proceeds raised are in aid of Solva & St David’s District Nurses.

The Great St David’s Pancake Race

We held The Great St David’s Pancake Race on Shrove Tuesday, 21st February 4pm at The Bench, Cross Square for St David’s residents to have some fun on Pancake Day.
The race started from The Bench then round Cross Square and back to The Bench – it sounded easy being the fastest without dropping your pancake was tough!
We raised a small amount of money which will go towards making the event even bigger and better next year.
There are some photos below and more on our Facebook page here.

Rumble in the Gym – Penknife vs St Davids Netball Team
On Friday 10th February at 7pm in the St Davids Sports Centre, the mighty Penknife Club took on the nearly undesputed champions of the netball court, the St David’s Netball Team. Unfortunately the Penknife team lost but to be fair none of us had played netball in our lives before!
This challenge was all in aid of the Special baby Care Unit at Withybush Hospital and we raised £256 by asking people to pay just £1 to Guess the Score.
Many thanks to Les James and to the Netball Ladies for putting on such a great event and as you can see we all took it very seriously. There are photos on our Facebook Page here.

New Year’s Day Swim 1st Jan 2012

The St David’s Penknife Club New Year’s Day Swim was held on, er, New Year’s Day 1 st January 2012!
Around 200 people turned up to take a dip and we raised an excellent £1,210 for the local RNLI and the Porthmawr Surf Lifesavers – and both of them were on hand to help on the day. A big thanks to everyone for making the event such a success.
Have a look at last year’s photos here.
